Howdy,
I have two suggestions for Emacs 21 which may be small enough to
consider short term if they are agreed upon.
1) Flyspell's two face definitions should color the underline only,
not the text characters. This would make it less garish, less
likely to conflict with other colors in the buffer, and consistent
with those "other applications" that do the same thing. I recently
used this feature elsewhere, and it is quite spiffy.
2) The text properties `point-entered' and `point-left' may want to
set `inhibit-point-motion-hooks' to t before calling their hooks.
I've been programming with these recently, and this was a hard
lesson to learn. ;)
