The version I called ``previous'' is what you call ``current''.  By 
``previous'' I meant the one where the change Debian people did after 
Kai's bug report does not exist.

Obviously, Kai succeeded.

Andreas already did that on the development trunk: aclocal.m4 is gone, 
and Autoconf 2.52 is used.
