My point was that we should not assume that most faces do not change the
background color ("very rarely") and that most such faces are only for
temporary highlighting (vs, for instance, font-locking).
This is an unnecessary argument, so let's let it drop.
The default definition of list-matching-lines-face does not have
to be good for all possible situations. It does not have to be
good in customized Emacses. It only needs to be good in the usual
and unmodified situation.
