So wondering if anyone can reproduce this? I don't see this problem on GNU/Linux. menu-updating-frame is a builtin variable. If you use M-x report-emacs-bug (its on the menu-bar!) we can see how your Emacs was built and perhaps why menu-updating-frame has been seemingly left out. Nick
