So I conclude that /everybody/ who commented on this agrees with me
and would like to see the defaults changed [1]. I looked into
tooltip.el, it is written by Gerd Moellmann -- but he seems not to be
involved anymore, at least I haven't seen him on this list lately. Who
is making such decisions now?
