As I said in my reply to Chong (or, pardon me, is it Yidong?)'s
suggestion, I think that failed matches in auto-mode-alist -- that is,
files like .blah that would generate Fundamental Mode -- should be treated
as are files that match something in auto-mode-alist but not an image
mode.  (And perhaps, again, as should be files that match an image mode
but not the right type of image.)


This product is sold by volume, not by mass.  If it appears too dense or
too sparse, it is because mass-energy conversion has occurred during
