I don't think named icons work under anything else than Gnome.  The
theme is set in XSETTINGS and that is maintained by the gnome settings
daemon.  The Gtk+ stock icons however, are hardcoded in Gtk+.

Hmm, pity.  I wonder if there is a workaround, some way to get the
named icons on to the tool bar under KDE that circumvents the Gnome
settings daemon.  It would be a shame to have to do without those
icons while using the Gnome stock icons.

I'll try.  I currently don't have KDE installed, so it will take a while.
