Yes, indeed. But the author of doc-view decided to try and keep the png
images (generated from the .pdf or .dvi file) and reuse them across
invocations if the file hasn't changed in between.
So the "temporary" directory needs to be at a well-known location, so
make-temp-file can't be used.
