I can confirm that. I set the font for emacs in my ~/.Xdefaults:
Emacs.Font: DejaVu Sans Mono-10
That's what describe-face says.
,----[ M-x describe-face RET default RET ]
| Face: default (sample) (customize this face)
| Documentation: Basic default face.
| Defined in `faces.el'.

| Family: unknown-dejavu sans mono
| Width: normal
| Height: 69
| Weight: normal
| Slant: roman
| Foreground: black
| Background: white
| Underline: nil
| Overline: nil
| Strike-through: nil
| Box: nil
| Inverse: nil
| Stipple: nil
| Font: dejavu sans
mono:pixelsize=10:foundry=unknown:weight=regular:slant=roman:width=normal
| Fontset: -unknown-dejavu sans
mono-regular-roman-normal--10-*-*-*-*-*-fontset-startup
| Inherit: unspecified

Till yesterday all worked fine, so the change that broke it must be
committed within the last 24 hours.
