Hello!
The DOCSTRING is not OK:
font-spec may one of these:
* A cons (FAMILY . REGISTRY), where FAMILY is a font family name and
REGISTRY is a font registry name. FAMILY may contains foundry
name, and REGISTRY may contains encoding name.
* A font name string.
* nil, which explicitly specifies that there's no font for target.
The first line misses a ``be´´.
First item has twice ``may contains´´ although the singular form is
appropriate.
The second item might need a clarification: is the font name XLFD
format or can it be libfontconfig?
The DOCSTRING also contains:
target may be a script name symbol. In that case, use font-spec for
all characters that belong to the script.
From which variable can the script's name be taken? There seem to
exist three choices: otf-script-alist (which looks very promising),
charset-script-alist (do fonts exist that support all Indian
scripts?), or char-script-table (looks quite OK).

Greetings

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something
completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete
fools.
