How do you see the CVS checkout time for Emacs?

The `version' command gives you the build time for Emacs, but not the CVS checkout time. If someone is using a CVS version he/she did not build themselves then how can you find out the CVS checkout time?
Should not the version string say this too? Is not this essential during test periods?
