Is not "inconsistent" another sarcasm? ;-) I think the idea Stephen Turnbull had to stop this thread is good: Try to write functions to switch between more platform dependent manners. And then turn them on by default on the different platforms ... ;-) It is very difficult avoiding stepping a bit on each other here. I think we have to accept that instead of saying that it means anyone is imposing something on another.
