As Chong pointed out, rendering today web is a full-time-full-team job.

You might find uzbl[1] of interest. It is basically a frame rendering
the html/css+js, and that's it. Control, bookmarks, history ... well,
everything else than rendering is let to third party tools. IOW, very
suitable for an uzbl-mode.
