Configure with

  CFLAGS='-O0 -ggdb -g3' ./configure --enable-asserts

See etc/DEBUG.  But I'm not sure this is what you are looking for.
Please elaborate what instructions you need.

It is very hard to relate with the sources, since there's no source
line information there.
