memalign might be dicey, as Stefan noted.
The gnulib documentation
says posix_memalign is missing on some plausible Emacs porting targets,
and the gnulib implementation of pagealign_alloc says that
posix_memalign often wastes an entire memory page per call
(don't know the details about that).
