If the goal is to make calc and calendar compatible, wouldn't it also
make sense to shift the numbering of days, so that <Mon Jan 1, +1>
(Gregorian) will have day number 1?

That is, use the same day counting as calendar does:

   (calendar-absolute-from-gregorian '(12 31 -1))

   (calendar-absolute-from-gregorian '(1 1 1))
