Not here:

  D:\gnu\bzr\emacs\trunk>timep bzr log --line -l5000 > nul

  real    00h00m00.921s
  user    00h00m00.875s
  sys     00h00m00.062s

  $ time git log --oneline -n5000 > /dev/null

  real    0m0.218s
  user    0m0.015s
  sys     0m0.015s

I hope you at least won't claim that 900 msec is "much more quickly"
than 200 msec.  (Not that anyone should ever need to look at 5000
