Please consider the following bug a major bug that needs to be fixed for
the new release:

Sorry for the late bug report, but I only recently managed to create an
example for this bug that could be replicated easily. I would be very
sad if this bug (which I have encountered frequently as a heisenbug) is
not fixed for the new release, as it can make programming in C under
Emacs extraordinarily painful at times.
