Is something like this too hackish?

(cl-letf (((symbol-function 'message) 'ignore))

In general I agree that it would be good if there existed a way to mute
Emacs while running something.  This is also useful for scripts,
e.g. exporting (org) documents from the bash prompt.


One thing that is clear: it's all down hill from here
