You get to perform the replacements in the results of
xref-find-references. Or, really, in any "search results" that are fed
to xref.
Another difference is that grep-edit is not in the core.
There will be more in future, but we're not there yet.
I suspect that the UI is the least of our concerns.
What's your biggest concern, then?
