Yep. I would imagine that debugging to standard out will not become
popular as a tool for debugging TTY display.

There are still options there: redirect stderr (since it's unbuffered) to a FIFO and read it with less(1), or use the multi-tty feature to separate the frame being debugged from the original controlling terminal...
