It always puzzled me why "C-x (" was deprecated. I never found it
easier to reach F-row. Yes, 1 key instead of 2, but..
Using prefix arg and other macro commands (C-x C-k something) looks more
uniform with "C-x (", which can be thought of as a shortcut for C-x C-k
[C-]s.
