Indeed, a NEWS entry is needed. I'd say let Eli have a stab at it, perhaps creating a new section where the new bits of Eglot added from now on can be mentioned separately.

Indeed! Great job Joao and all the devs!

This feels like big enough news to be mentioned in the NEWS, but my
cursory look/grep did not find any. Thoughts?
