:-) It's nice that we agree.

I don't have time to review those patches, but I gather it is some
kind of backward-compatibility concern.  Indeed that is though, one
must first analyze exactly what is potentially broken, and gauge how
much fallout there will be.  Then be prepared to help whoever is affected
deal with it.  We do this more often than one would think ;-)
Anyway, if you're a bookmark.el specialist and you have that time
you are probably the most qualified person to do it, so from a
10000 ft perspective I'd say go that thread again and insist
that your patch is responsible enough.
