Basically you can select a candidate from the minibuffer completion list
using a numeric argument, without having to type RET to exit from the
minibuffer. I attached a screenshot, using Vertico and Consult (although
the code I linked doesn't depend on any of those) to demonstrate what it
looks like. There, if you type '1' or '01' in your keyboard, you would
select 'VS Code' or 'Scad', respectively, without having to press the
return key.
