I could do that, but before doing it, I would want to point out that
that would completely revert your change for people having `F' among
dired-listing-switches.

Would it be OK to change dired-re-dot from:

"^.* \\.\\.?$" to "^.* \\.\\.?/?$"

That would seem to give the desired result for everybody.
I did not want to make the change before pointing this out to you.
My connection to Savannah seems to be down at the moment anyway.
