Today's CVS snapshot, Fri, 2003 Sep 12 15:20 UTC
GNU Emacs 21.3.50.66 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.2.1)
configured using `configure '--with-type1' '--with-x-toolkit=gtk'
'--prefix=/usr/local' '--with-sound=yes''

[The default value of `Scroll Bar Width' in nil, which means to use
the scroll bar width from the window's frame.]

When I set the value of `Scroll Bar Width' to 50, the width of scroll
bar window (or whatever you call the space where the scroll bar is
located) increases to 50, but the scroll bar itself does not increase
in width. It remains narrow, surrounded on either side by empty space.

There does not seem to be any way to change the width of the scroll bar in GTK. There is a style property, slider_width, but it is read only, and fixed at 14 pixels.
