The feature that Stefan implemented for moving point out of invisible
regions doesn't do it in quite the right way.  It needs to move point
further in the same direction that it moved in order to enter the
invisible region.  If it doesn't do that, you can get into ugly
situations where you try to move point forward but Emacs helpfully
moves it backward for you, so that C-f makes no progress.

The invisible/intangible feature that I wrote is designed to produce
behavior that is consistent, in the sense that it avoids associating
different point values with the same screen position.  If we get rid
of that feature, I'd like the replacement to do that also.
