I guess you don't have a home directory on a shared filesystem with a
need to keep a `corporate' password in the `mail-sources' variable.
You probably also don't have conditions of use that require you to
protect passwords. As far as I remember, before GNU POP
authentication changed, it had to contain my GNU password too.
[I'm not suggesting one should use POP passwords in the clear, but
that's what happens.]
