Unresponsive Emacs

Over time Emacs seems to get very busy when I've not asked it to do anything.
The backtrace always looks (something like):

(gdb) xbacktrace

I've sent this e-mail from a separate invocation, but this configuration
should be pretty much right.


In GNU Emacs (i586-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars)
 of 2004-12-10 on farnswood.snap.net.nz
Distributor `Mandrake Linux (XFree86 4.2.1, patch level 3mdk)', version
