FWIW, I have been bothered by switch-frame events when trying to debug some
of my code that reads events. Because the debug buffer is in a separate
frame (I use non-nil pop-up-frames), just getting to the debug buffer causes
a switch-frame event, which can sometimes throw things off.
Can you tell us how to reproduce this? Then we could fix it.
