Strange. I've certainly built from CVS since 2/19, using what I assume 
is the standard procedure:

make maintainer-clean;
cvs up -d
./configure --enable-carbon --without-x
make bootstrap tags
sudo make install

In the past, that has updated/replaced the package in /Applications, 
but that wasn't happening. This time I first moved 
/Applications/Emacs.app out of the way and got a fresh build--one in 
which the bug no longer appeared.
