I'm sorry. Comprehension has finally dawned in my enfeebled brain...

You were talking (quite clearly) about a completely different thing
(point moving in diary buffer when saved) to the tangent I went off on
(point in moving in calendar, somehow).

I have finally installed the patch you recommended all along, to solve
the issue you were talking about.
