--enable-locallisppath=PATH does not work when PATH contains space

According to rules Apple sets for Mac OS X, locallisppath is something like /Library/Application\ Support/Emacs or ~/Library/Application\ Support/Emacs. Trying to configure with either

        --enable-locallisppath=/Library/Application\ Support/Emacs


        --enable-locallisppath="/Library/Application Support/Emacs"

leads to an error:

        config.status: executing default commands
        creating src/epaths.h
sed: 1: "s;\(#.*PATH_LOADSEARCH\ ...": unescaped newline inside substitute pattern
        make: *** [epaths-force] Error 1
        creating lib-src/Makefile
        creating src/Makefile

In GNU Emacs (powerpc-apple-darwin7.9.0, GTK+ Version 2.4.9)
 of 2005-05-29 on Latsche.local
