desktop.el no longer loaded in CVS Emacs

From: Gary Lawrence Murphy
Subject: desktop.el no longer loaded in CVS Emacs
Date: Thu, 18 Aug 2005 23:30:02 -0400

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!
Please write in English if possible, because the Emacs maintainers
usually do not have translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the address@hidden mailing list.

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Loading dired...
byte-code: Symbol's value as variable is void: desktop-buffer-mode-handlers

Debugger entered--Lisp error: (void-variable desktop-buffer-mode-handlers)
  add-to-list(desktop-buffer-mode-handlers (dired-mode .
dired-restore-desktop-buffer))
  byte-code("ÁÂÃ\"ˆÄ=ƒÅÆ!ˆÇÈ!ˆÉÊ!‡" [system-type add-to-list
desktop-buffer-mode-handlers (dired-mode . dired-restore-desktop-buffer)
vax-vms load "dired-vms" provide dired run-hooks dired-load-hook] 3)

I've noticed this only with my last two builds of CVS Emacs and just
thought maybe it might be important. In the official FSF Emacs
for Mandrake GNU, dired commands load directories as expected, but
in the builds within just the past few weeks I must explicitly
Mx load-library desktop to make the above error go away

If emacs crashed, and you have the emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
/usr/share/emacs/22.0.50/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
