"programmable" vs "programmed" completion - confusion

Library `pcomplete.el' and its related libraries claim to be about
"programmable completion". This is mentioned nowhere in the Emacs-Lisp
Manual (which, IMO, is normal).

The Emacs-Lisp Manual has node "Programmed Completion", which is about
something entirely different.

This leads to confusion when people speak or write about one or the other
functionality (e.g. EmacsWiki, email). This should be cleared up, either by
changing the terms used in the `pcomplete.el' libraries or by changing the
manual.

[IMHO, I think _each_ term is unfortunate, even apart from the confusion of
having different meanings for similar names. I don't have good alternative
terms in mind, mainly because I'm not familiar with pcomplete (its
description in the file confuses me). For the manual, you might consider
"Computed Completion", but that's not very good either - it's really about
"Using a Function to Complete".]
