Hi the list !
Got a weird bug :
$ cd /tmp ; mkdir test ; touch test/ttt ; chmod a-w test
$ emacs -Q
M-x set-variable RET auto-save-timeout RET 10 RET
for conveniency.
Open /tmp/test/ttt and write some text.
Wait for the error
> Auto-saving ttt: Opening output file: permission denied, ...
to be triggered, and then it C-g and stay on it.
The auto-save will be launched again and again and you can't win the
fight: you have to let the message be printed 3 secs.
It seems that the idle timer is not reseted or something like that,
resulting in infinite auto-saving.
Note that I have a short delay between key repetition :
xset r rate 300 250
