Elisp Manual: New Symbols node

The symbols new to Emacs 22 (generated by tindex) in the node "New Symbols"
are now listed with a line number next to them, presumably so you know where
in the node they are described, as when you click on one you get sent to the
start of the relevant node.

Assuming that I've built the manual properly, why can't they work like the
previous Index (generated by findex, vindex etc?)  and send the user directly
to the relevant line?
