edirs: file comparisons fail when the dirs use ~/xxx style paths

From: Tim Van Holder
Subject: edirs: file comparisons fail when the dirs use ~/xxx style paths

When running edirs to compare two CVS sandboxes, I used =-H to mark identical
files for hiding, but no files were marked (even though most files are
unchanged). A short investigation showed that using /home/tim/ instead of
~/ (which is supplied by default) makes it work again.
