That's slightly inaccurate: the vertical scroll bar does not
disappear, at least not in all GUI applications.  What happens is that
the scroll-bar _thumb_ disappears.  If this can be easily done in
Emacs, perhaps we should do that too, but I wouldn't press for it
before the release.

Btw, I'm quite sure that some applications never make even the thumb
disappear, for example the command prompt window in Windows.
