Well, he said "it would be good", not "we have to". Though I agree with
rms, I can live with not rescheduling the timer at the moment of
deactivation.
Why argue about it? I suggest first looking for an easy way
to make it do what we agree is The Right Thing. If you can't find one,
then you can discuss what is the Next Best Thing.
