    Hi Drew.

I know that you don't have time to build an up-to-date Emacs on your
system (although I suppose it would take only a fraction of the time
you spend on writing bug reports for things which are already solved).

That said, I don't see why you cannot at least check out the latest
manuals, rather than reporting problems with 3 months old manuals..

Hi Kim,

I have neither the time nor the will to build Emacs; I use the latest
Windows binary I can find. I use the manuals for the Emacs version I'm
using, which is the version I'm reporting on.

I post bugs along with my version number. You are free to ignore any bug
reports, based on my version being too old, or based on anything else you
choose. All bugs are reported on an HTH basis only; you decide whether a
report is helpful. If the noise-to-signal ratio of my bug reports is judged
to be too high, then redirect my reports to /dev/null.

BTW, you could semi-automate the rejection process in this area, by
recording the date of each fix and comparing it with the date of a bug
report for the same bug - the only manual intervention needed would be
recognizing the subject of a bug/fix, to make the connection. With good fix
comments, even that part could be somewhat automated.

All that said, it appears that this was not a wasted bug report. Even if you
had been planning anyway to check the manual for outdated references to
Emacs version numbers, this report apparently triggered that plan into
action.

Regards - Drew
