    I fail to understand what "but you can use  instead" means.

Is that because the value is nil?  I think that case needs to be
handled specially.  It can say just "The key <ESC> has been rebound,
so you can't use it this way."

    Additionally, as the warning line is longer than 80 characters it's
    quite disturbing.

Let's change `information' to `info'.  I think everyone will understand `info'.

    BTW, if you do the same with a German language environment, the German
    tutorial is interrupted by lines in English.  Also the "NOTICE" is in
    English.

You can add German versions in tutorial.el.
I think English is better than nothing.
