I understand (academically) that once someone has adapted themselves to a particular set of bugs, shortcomings, and limitations, then that adaptation tends to produce a feeling of home and safety, but it's hard not to see the current emacs-devel conversation as a real-life recreation of this bit from XKCD:
I'm sharing this here in the hopes that it adds some levity to someone else's day. Thanks (again) to you all for making emacs (better).
