Indeed, but before installing mpg123 – already a nuisance – I tried to use VLC 
on Windows, but I was unable to use it. It just would not play any file at all. 
I'm assuming different calling conventions. In the end I did not investigate. 
Perhaps I should try again. But then again, perhaps what EMMS needs is some 
sort of error checking or awareness of coding systems when handling file names 
or when passing them around.
