The recognition of MPI in ESPReSo is far from being optimal. If I ever
had time for that again (which is, alas, not likely), I would basically
try to rewrite the whole procedure.
The recognition does not care for the order of the MPI implementations
in the path, but always uses the one it finds first - and it loks for
them in a specific order, where mpich comes before the "generic" interface.
