Hi Roy,
I've noticed the same, that /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts is not used/respected. I
asked that question about a month ago. Heres an archive of that thread:

We discovered today that fab only reads ~/.ssh/known_hosts, and does NOT read
/etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts to pick up system-wide host keys. This seems like a
bug to us. Is this an intentional design decision?
