Hello, I am sure going to check this out.

Thanks for letting me know!
Pavel

----------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

I heard from you many times on Wordfast's discussion list.

Some months ago, I decided to launch a free CAT software project (under the
GPL), Free CATS, to see if I could bring together enough energies in order
to gradually develop a set of features that were missing from existing
proprietary CAT software, and also to lighten the weight of the chains
Trados is trying to put on the shoulders of all of us translators.

The project's home page is at:
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/freecats

The only present activity happens within its 30 subscribers' mailing list -
no code has been released yet.

After some time spent designing specifications between translators, it seems
our project might find a first available developer to help us.

We intend to start with a HTTP-accessible translation memory server, and at
least one proprietary CAT tool editor clearly stated he would make his
software become a compatible client of our server software.

We also are very interested in developing a portable toolbox for various
purposes, including file conversion & preparation. After extensive searches,
I realize your GPL project is one of the most interesting ones, and I
wanted to know if you would be willing to collaborate to our project - of
course, depending on your available time.

I myself don't have much time presently, and I'm not experienced enough as a
developer - so at least, I try to coordinate this project until more help
comes.

Please let me know what you think and feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Best regards,

Henri Chorand
Free CATS project coordinator
