Hello,

As you have probably noticed, postings on this list are few and far apart, indicating that little is going on with this project. Too little, actually. I've been busy with other tasks, and the situation doesn't look any rosier in the future. All in all, I believe that this project deserves a better maintainer.

The project has some serious problems, among them I would like to stress a lack of hinting, which makes the font less suitable for screen display, poor harmonizing of European (one might also call them Greek-derived: Greek, Latin, Cyrillic, Armenian, and Georgian) and non-European scripts (right now, we support some Indic scripts, but the support is far from perfect, which results in either too wide line-spacing for European scripts or overlapping glyphs for Indic scripts), and uneven development of font families (usually, the normal - roman, upright - version is much more populated with glyphs than the derived - slanted, bold etc.).

Also, since the project conception some time in 2000, many other free high-quality fonts have become available, which has to some extent diminished demand on this project.

Still, remarkably many people seem to be using this font suite, and one wouldn't want to leave them down. I am still interested in this work, and would be able to contribute from time to time, but I just lack the spare time needed for steering this project. Therefore, I would like to pass this duty to somebody else. While this position does not bring any financial benefits, it does offer an opportunity to meet many wonderful people from all over the globe, which I find highly rewarding.

If you think you are willing and able to take over this project, please contact me.

Best wishes,
Primož
