Hey Dick,

I implemented a --without-random-device option in ./configure.  It's in
the following beta release:

http://ftp.gluster.com/pub/freeipmi/qa-release/freeipmi-0.8.8.beta2.tar.gz

Could you check it out and see if it works for you.
